Technology
Introduction
- capture of the application
- Elevator pitch
Hi, I'm sheng and I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Tasmania. Nice to meet you! I thought you might be interested in seeing the car presentation turned into 3d. This can be done through the camera. This provides great convenience when browsing cars on the brochure. The user can see the real car from different angles and colours. I can show you now.
Description of the application
- Application does
Based on the duality of the virtual interface, the application I have designed is an interactive vehicle brochure. Technically speaking, it is a flat graphic with the relevant vehicle printed on it. From an empirical point of view, the car can be seen in real life through the camera and the play and pause of the vehicle display is done by touching the virtual buttons.
- Significance of application
Designing this brochure will help users to see the real vehicle. This allows the user to see what the car looks like from a variety of different angles, which is more vivid and intuitive than looking at photos. The inclusion of dynamic music to cater for a younger user group reduces the sense of unfamiliarity between the user and the scene. The buttons have been made larger to make them easier to touch, taking into account that the user may also be of an older age group.
- Significance of the interface technology (AR )
The limitation of the previous interface was that all brochures were flat. The user could only see a specific angle of the displayed object. It is not possible to view the object from multiple angles. And the traditional paper selection of brochures is no longer very attractive to the user.
By using AR technology, objects can be displayed in 3D. By stopping and playing, the user can view the object from all angles. Different coloured vehicles can also be displayed at the same time. By interacting with the objects, the user has a richer experience. Rather than just viewing a high definition picture.
In summary, AR interface technology is necessary in this application.
Interaction Design
- Interaction(s) needs
Traditional paper brochures are not interactive with the user, who can only look at the brochure. However, with the help of AR, the user can interact with the content in the pictures once they have been scanned by the camera, and control the different angles of the vehicle with virtual buttons. Simulating the movement of the vehicle and playing background music. These features make the brochures more interactive and thus attract the attention of customers. Making the brochure interesting and thus more impressive to the user.
- Storyboard
- Active interaction
After the camera has scanned the picture two virtual cars of different colours will appear. One of the cars keeps rotating at a constant speed while the other drives from one side of the picture to the other. The virtual buttons are placed on the two tyres in the picture. The virtual button on the front tyre controls the rotation of the car. Touching the button stops the car from rotating, while pressing and holding the button continues the rotation. The virtual button on the rear tyre controls the moving vehicle in the same way as the front tyre. There is also a UI button to control the music playing. These interactions add to the fun of looking at the brochure and allow for multiple views of the vehicle.
Technical Development
- Specific interface technology
The key techniques involved in this operation are as follows. Firstly, the application is built on unity using the computer c language. Importing all the images and vehicle models and adding interactive effects to the interactive objects, followed by implementing the application using the camera and using the hands to interact with the objects.
- How to engage with available interaction(s)
IIn the scenes, virtual buttons allow the user to interact with the vehicles in the scene with their hands, including stop and play. UI buttons have also been added to control the music.
Descriptions of 3D Models
- Objects
The first vehicle is used for rotating.
The second vehicle is used for driving.
